Many of us have heard of and used online resources such as Kahoot, Quizlet, and Socrative. Indeed, Blooket has recently become quite a popular online interactive learning tool, which students greatly enjoy as part of their learning.
However, have you heard of Wooclap?
I recently came across the website on a course and was intrigued by the many interactive activities available to incorporate into our lessons. Having familiarised myself with Wooclap, I tested it with some of my classes who have seemed to enjoy the learning experience. Whilst there are options for a paid subscription, I am using their free subscription service which has a plethora of features available.
There are some useful features I have come across such as Fill in the Missing Blanks, Sorting, Label an Image, Matching, Multiple Choice and Prioritisation. Some of the activities offered are similar to those on sites like Kahoot. However, I believe one of the best aspects of Wooclap is that it allows you to incorporate the questions and activities into your PowerPoints. For me, this has led to a smoother transition between activities and means that I can weave the interactive activities into my lesson, whenever I feel it is relevant to, as opposed to treating them like a separate element.
Students in Year 9 and above should easily be able to access Wooclap using their mobile devices whilst younger students could use it during a computer room lesson.
Wooclap tools have been designed primarily for face-to-face teaching:
· To encourage conversations
· To generate a group dynamic
· To make students actors of their learning.
